South Majorca
El Arenal · S'Arenal · Es Trenc · Colònia de Sant Jordi · Ses Salines
In a nutshell: The south has two very different personalities — the lively Platja de Palma resort strip with 5km of beach and buzzing bars, and the completely unspoilt Es Trenc natural beach. Colònia de Sant Jordi is the quiet, charming port gateway to the region.
Areas of South Majorca
🌊 Platja de Palma / El Arenal
One of the longest urban beaches in the Mediterranean — 5km of golden sand between Palma and El Arenal. A massive concentration of hotels, bars and restaurants, hugely popular with German and Spanish tourists. Excellent for a classic bucket-and-spade holiday with everything on hand.
ðŸ–ï¸ Es Trenc — Majorca's Wild Beach
The most famous natural beach in Majorca — 4km of powder-white sand and Caribbean-clear water with no hotels or development. A protected nature reserve. Busy at weekends in summer but magical on weekdays. Accessible by car (parking €8–12/day) or bus from Campos. Bring everything you need — only one small beach bar.
⛵ Colònia de Sant Jordi
A quiet, authentic port town at the southeastern tip of the island. Less touristy than most Majorcan resorts — good seafood restaurants, a pleasant marina and a genuine local feel. The main departure point for boat excursions to the Cabrera Archipelago National Park and the beautiful Ses Salines beach nearby.
🌿 Ses Salines Natural Park
A protected wetland and coastal area between Es Trenc and Colònia de Sant Jordi. Home to flamingos, migratory birds and some of the most untouched coastline on the island. Walking and cycling trails through the salt flats.
